NASHVILLE, Tenn. — The Tennessee Volunteers will try to salvage what has been a frustrating season when they take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers in the Music City Bowl.

Under second-year coach Mike Riley, Nebraska has enjoyed a nine-win season in the Big Ten, but it will have to deal with several injuries and suspensions, including sidelined quarterback Tommy Armstrong Jr., who’s status for the bowl is uncertain.

The Volunteers (8-4) are making their first trip to Nashville since a disappointing season-ending loss to Vanderbilt that cost them a berth in the Sugar Bowl. Picked to win the SEC East this year, Tennessee was injury-laden all year and lost to South Carolina and the Commodores late to cost them any chance of a title.

This will be the final game for star quarterback Joshua Dobbs and several other Vols. It should be a high-scoring affair.
